Oceans are an incredible ecosystem that we depend upon. We aim to restore and sustain the ocean’s natural ecosystems and raise awareness on issues such as plastic in the oceans, sea level change, ocean acidity, overfishing, coral bleaching, industry drilling and spillages.
Oceans are an incredible ecosystem that we depend upon, yet each year an estimated 12.7 million tons of plastic enters our oceans with devastating effects: choking sea life, circulating as giant rafted debris, and breaking down into micro plastics and into our food chain. Pollution is causing climate change, mass coral bleaching and threatening island communities from rising sea levels. Did you know that almost a third of the global fish stocks are overfished, severely threatening marine populations, biodiversity and the livelihood of coastal villages? 640,000 tonnes of ‘ghost gear’ from fishing equipment is abandoned in our oceans each year, trapping marine animals and often causing long and agonising deaths. We need to work together to find another way. We need to raise awareness so that people understand the impact of their everyday choices, like filling up their car at the garage. Oil spills continue to poison birds and mammals and threaten the life cycles of marine organisms.
Our mission is to put an end to these issues by creating a ripple effect, partnering with organisations to restore and sustain the ocean’s natural ecosystems. We are driven to reconnect humans to the natural oceans and inspire positive change through education, workshops, collaboration and events.
